With the weather getting colder and nights getting darker, it's easy to find yourself bored while staying at home. Something to fill the time and get into the holiday spirit is by making painted envelopes for your holiday cards. Painting envelopes can help create a festive way to send out your letter and add a nice personal touch for your loved ones. Below are a few tips and tricks for how to get started to make some fun painted layouts.

When painting envelopes using different color envelopes, paints and brushes help create many dynamic options. Use small and large brushes to help make diverse brush strokes. Simple acrylic paints work perfectly for this project. They are typically cheap, dry quickly, and are easy to clean up. The options shown below are from Target.

Use a bit of old cardboard or newspaper to protect a surface. Lay out your envelopes all at once time and go through different coats in steps. Below you can find the steps, colors, and brushes, I used to make my cards this year. However, have fun with it and explore your own options and designs!
